Helping Crash in his trip is an old magic doctor spirit named Aku Aku, who has left masks of himself all over the islands to give Crash special powers. The boss enemies of the game include Papu Papu, the fat and angry leader of the island village; Ripper Roo, a crazy kangaroo with sharp toe nails; Koala Kong, a strong but not smart koala; and Pinstripe Potoroo, the machine gun-carrying guard of Doctor Cortex.
