When you play the game, you become Travis Grady, a truck driver who, late one night, tries to save time by taking a shortcut through Silent Hill. He must pick up the items needed to solve the puzzles and open up new areas. Monsters of different kinds make things hard and, like in the old games, are almost always twisted versions of people.
Travis can fight with only his hands or with close-range weapons. Unlike the earlier games, these weapons will break after some use. Also, some guns and one-time items can be thrown. Fighting is done using a lock-on system. There is no HUD, but the bottom left of the screen will turn red when Travis is about to pass out. You play Travis Grady, a truck driver who was trapped during a regular delivery in Silent Hill. Players must escape the scary people in the town and deal with the strange visions that have haunted Travis since he was a child.
