To stop this, Dante has to move through the nine levels of Hell and learn to beat their monsters before he can face his biggest fight. To save Beatrice, he must deal with his past, bad actions, and wrongdoings, keeping with the main idea of seeing and turning away from evil. Along his way, he often meets the writer Virgil, who explains the different levels and shows memories that tell how Dante did wrong during the Crusades.
Dante’s main weapon is a scythe, and he uses magic with a holy cross given to him by Beatrice right before she died. This magic item gives out light beams that kill all bad things it hits. Dante can even ride some demon monsters and use them to help him. But players must pick between a good and a bad path. When catching enemies or finding stuck people, Dante can either hurt or forgive them. Either way gives you bad or good power points. Dante can level up in one of the two skill trees and spend the souls he has collected. Since you can’t fully finish both paths, one must be picked. The evil path boosts scythe powers, while the holy path boosts the cross.
